Move from Discord

Move your Discord server. Keep every message.

Moving a community usually means starting over in an empty room. Sazlo copies your Discord server with its history, then keeps the door open behind you until everyone has walked through.

How the move works

  1. 1

    Make your Sazlo account

Sign up at sazlo.app with a handle and an email. Then choose Create a space and Import from Discord.

  2. 2

    Add the Sazlo bot

Add the bot to the Discord server you want to bring over. You need to own it or have Administrator there.

  3. 3

    Pick where it goes

Build a new space, or fill one you already run. Rooms and sections with the same name merge.

  4. 4

    Watch it come over

Progress shows live. A large server can take a while, and the import picks up where it left off if anything stops it.

  5. 5

    Invite your people

Share an invite link in Discord. When people link their Discord account, every message they wrote moves to them.

  6. 6

Close Discord when you are ready

Close Discord locks the old server to everyone but the bot. Reopen puts every permission back the way it was.

What comes over

Structure
Categories become sections, channels become rooms, with their order. Hidden channels stay hidden.
Every message
Text, replies, threads, pins, pictures and files, with their original times.
Forums
Forum and media channels become forum rooms with their tags, guidelines, posts, locks and pins.
Events
Scheduled events the bot can read, with voice events placed in the matching voice room.
Settings that matter
Slow mode and announcement channels carry over. The server icon and banner come along.
Counter channels
Voice channels used as member counters become live stats under the space name, so the space needs no counter rooms.

Names, tidied

Decorated names like ┃General Chat or 「・announcements」 come over as general-chat and announcements. Sections read as plain words. Your space looks calm on day one without anyone renaming forty rooms.

Your people and their words

Stand-ins until they arrive
Each author appears with their Discord name and picture, marked Other platform, so nobody mistakes an imported message for one sent on Sazlo.
Claimed when they link
Linking a Discord account moves every imported message by that account to the person. Unlinking moves them back.
Removed on request
Anyone can hide their own imported messages. Moderators can remove one person's imported messages and picture from a space.

Stay connected while people move

Pair a room with its Discord channel and choose the direction. Messages from Sazlo post in Discord under their author's name, and messages from Discord arrive in Sazlo the same way. Edits, files, reactions and typing go across too.

People move when they are ready, and the conversation never splits in two.

Bring your bots, rebuilt

Discord bots stay on Discord. Sazlo lists the bots that came over in your import and recreates the common ones from its library: levels, moderation, welcomes, reaction roles, tickets, giveaways, starboards and more. It says plainly when a bot needs its own service and offers a webhook so that service can keep posting. See no-code bots.

What stays on Discord

Direct messages between people, Discord's own bots and apps, and anything the bot is not allowed to read. A channel the bot cannot see waits, and the import tells you how many, so you can let the bot in and restart.

Questions

Do I need to own the Discord server?

You need to own it or have Administrator in it, because the bot has to read every channel you want to bring over.

Does importing change anything on Discord?

No. Importing only reads. The server changes only if you choose to bridge rooms or use Close Discord, and Reopen undoes that.

How long does an import take?

It depends on how many messages the server has. Small servers finish in minutes. Large ones take longer, and progress shows live. An import resumes from where it stopped.

Can I import into a space I already have?

Yes. Pick the space as the target. Rooms and sections with matching names merge, and running the same import again fills in what is missing without writing any message twice.

What happens to messages from people who never join Sazlo?

They stay under their Discord name and picture, marked Other platform. Moderators can remove one person's imported messages, and anyone can hide their own.

Bring your people.

Sazlo runs in the browser at sazlo.app. Make a space, invite your group, or bring a community you already run somewhere else, history and all.
