Sazlo is pseudonymous by default. Using it never takes your legal name, a photo of your ID or a scan of your face. A handle and an email get you in.
How Sazlo will handle age checks
Today, nothing on Sazlo asks for age verification. If the law, an age-gated space or an appeal ever needs more, these are the rules Sazlo holds itself to:
- Only by exception
- Stronger checks only where the law, an age-gated space or an appeal requires them. Never to use Sazlo at all.
- The answer, not the evidence
- Sazlo keeps an age band and how it was established. No ID images, no ID numbers, no selfies, no database of faces.
- Your choice of method
- Several methods where allowed, each showing what Sazlo will and will not receive before you start.
- Never for ads
- Age data is never used for advertising, recommendations or profiling. Space owners see at most whether a requirement is met.
Control for you
- Who sees what
- Choose who sees each part of your profile: everyone, friends, people in a space with you, or only you.
- Blocking
- A block works both ways for direct messages, and the blocked person's messages collapse.
- Read receipts and status
- Turn read receipts off, and set Do not disturb to silence alerts.
- Two-step sign in
- An authenticator app with ten recovery codes, and a list of every session you can sign out.
- Your data
- Download everything: your account, profile, spaces, messages and reactions.
Tools for the people who run spaces
- Moderation
- Kick, time out and ban for a day, a week, 30 days or for good. Bulk delete, slow mode and announcement rooms.
- Auto filters
- Block words, phrases, links, invite links and mass mentions before they post.
- Screening and onboarding
- New members accept the rules before they can post, and answer questions that give them the right roles.
- Reports
- Anyone can report a message. Moderators work a queue that never names who reported.
- Access you can read
- See why someone can do something in a room, preview the space as any role, and find risky permission setups.
- An audit log
- Every moderation and settings change, filterable by kind and person.
What Sazlo is not
Messages on Sazlo are not end-to-end encrypted. Search, moderation and translation work because the service can read them. If you need end-to-end encryption, look at Element or Signal.
Questions
Does Sazlo require ID or a face scan?
No. Using Sazlo takes a handle and an email. Sazlo never asks for your legal name, ID or face to use it.
Is Sazlo end-to-end encrypted?
No. Messages are protected in transit and stored by the service, which is what makes search, moderation and translation possible.
Can I download my data?
Yes. Account settings has a full export of your account, profile, spaces, messages and reactions.
