Why people look for a Discord alternative

Most people leaving Discord are not leaving their friends. They want the same group, with the same history, somewhere that fits them better.

In 2026 a big reason is age checks. Discord announced that accounts start in a teen experience until they are confirmed as adults, and that some features can ask for a face scan or a government ID. After a backlash it delayed the global rollout to the second half of 2026; checks already apply where the law requires them, such as the UK and Australia. In October 2025, Discord said ID images of about 70,000 people were exposed through a third-party support provider.

Others want a layout each person can shape, bots they do not have to host, or a front page that looks like their group instead of a list of channels.

What Sazlo does differently

Your history comes with you: The Sazlo bot copies a Discord server you run into a space: sections, rooms, threads, forum posts, events, pictures, files and every message. How moving works.

Almost everything has a direct match, so nobody has to relearn where things are.

Server: Space. Each one has a Home, sections and rooms.
Channel: Room: text, announcement, forum or voice.
Category: Section.
Thread: Thread, opened in a side panel, with Also send to the room.
DM and group DM: Direct messages, and groups of 3 to 10 people.
Roles and permissions: Roles and room access, with an Access check that shows why someone can or cannot do something.
Server Discovery: Discover, open to any space that chooses to list.

What Sazlo does not have yet

Sazlo runs in the browser at sazlo.app and in desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux. The iOS and Android apps are coming soon to the stores. It is not open source and you cannot host it yourself. It is new, so your group will be among the first spaces here.

Questions

Can I move my Discord server to Sazlo?

Yes. Add the Sazlo bot to a Discord server you own or administer, and Sazlo builds a space with its sections, rooms, threads, forum posts, events, pictures, files and every message. See Move from Discord.

Do my members need Sazlo accounts first?

No. Imported messages keep their author's name and picture, marked as from another platform. When someone signs up and links their Discord account, every message they wrote moves to them.

Does Sazlo need my ID or a face scan?

No. Using Sazlo takes a handle and an email. If a law or an age-gated space ever needs more, Sazlo keeps the answer, never the evidence: no ID images, no selfies, no database of faces.

Can we keep our Discord server running while we move?

Yes. The Discord bridge pairs rooms with channels and carries messages, edits, files, reactions and typing both ways. Close Discord locks the old server to everyone but the bot when you are ready, and Reopen puts every permission back.

Do our Discord bots work on Sazlo?

Discord bots run on Discord, so they stay there. Sazlo looks at the bots that came over in an import and recreates the common ones, like levels, moderation, welcomes, reaction roles and tickets, as Sazlo bots from its library.

Is there a Sazlo desktop or phone app?

Desktop, yes: macOS, Windows and Linux, from Settings, Desktop app. The iOS and Android apps are built and coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. Until then, sazlo.app works in a phone's browser.
